First land: Massachusetts, New York State, and New Hampshire and their territories.

Capital City: Boston, MA.
Government type: Representative Democracy, becomes more of a dictatorship during times of war.
Religion: Officially there is no state religion, but the majority are of the Judeo-Christian sects.
Starting Population: 1 million

Starting technologies: Advanced medicines were developed by the Northern Union shortly after its formation as a way of keeping the population's fear of disease down, this was made possible by the large concentration of biotechnology corporations that existed in Boston.
Economy: Regulated capitalism, the economy is regulated by the government in degrees of magnitude, essentially, the larger a corporation is and the more the market depends on or is affected by it, the more regulated it is.
Currency: USD
Anything else: While New York is part of the Union, much of it is in a state of chaos. Most of the state's population is unaccounted for, and almost all people who had lived in New York City fled when several environmental disasters ruined large swathes of the city. The populations of the surrounding states performed similar exoduses fearing the same would happen to the rest of the north east, however, such feared events never happened, and the remaining populace of the three listed states set up a government. Other than the devastation of New York City, much of the infrastructure of the North East was preserved, the only problem being that there is not enough people to maintain all of it, so population centers have concentrated in the largest cities.

Numerous deposits of clay, quartz, limestone, gravel, and sand. Other sedimentary rocks as well.
Iron, aluminum, titanium, silver, lead and other metallic resources, most found in ores or compounds which need to be purified.
Coal, oil, and natural gas.
Wood. (Trust me, there's too much wood.)

Food resources:
Seafood, notably cod and lobsters. All seafood is extremely abundant.
Grains, vegetables and fruits, also abundant.
