Union Military Action- Annexation of the territories of Maine and Pennsylvania

The Northern Union has dispatched two thousand soldiers to Maine with five MBTs and a total of seventy IFVs, Humvees, and support vehicles. Seven percent of the GDP is being expended to support the expedition and the organization of a state government in Maine after any remaining anarchist groups are put down. Little to no losses are expected. However, Union aircraft will first scout the territory for dangerous zones, which will be avoided until the more passive areas of the territory have been surveyed and secured by Union soldiers. In addition, the territory of Pennsylvania will be annexed over this time and secured by one thousand five hundred Union troops. Aerial surveillance so far has shown Pennsylvania to be nearly uninhabited, so military action is not expected. Ten percent of the GDP will go towards setting up new infrastructure in Pennsylvania to utilize the precious mineral and non-mineral wealth in the area.

Any nation which offers financial aid will be rewarded by being allowed a share of the acquired resources equivalent to the percentage of Union GDP the aid equals. In addition, several research stations will be set up to study the fault lines of the region, the data retrieved from studying the faults will be given to the Stable Land project.

Update- Aerial Surveillance of Maine and Pennsylvania has returned enough data for realistic invasion plans. Union soldiers deployed now.

Update- Pennsylvania has been fully secured, fifty troops were tragically lost during raids on hostile areas, and another one hundred wounded. However, five hundred survivors in Pennsylvania have rallied and agreed to join the Union, 1% of the GDP (105735000 SF) will be spent over two years to bring these people into the Union's care, with housing being rebuilt in the great city of Philadelphia where the new state government will be set up as well. Reports from Maine are currently classified.
