Operation Snow Patrol
Following a series of conquests by Ellesmere, the nation of Switzerland became worried concerning a emerging Ellesmerian empire. To counter this threat, a series of espionage units where sent to infiltrate the Ellesmerian government and military.
Following this deployment, a number of low and medium level positions in both organizations where achieved, due to a believed inadequate anti-espionage forces. The latest report from this infiltration was from a medium ranked officer, who had been ordered to mobilize his command for deployment. Shortly after he was informed of his mission, and having received this information, duly passed it on to swiss command.
In response to the continuing Ellesmerian ambitions, a plan started to be set together to counter this deployment. It was a theoretic plan, until a low ranking civil servant over heard a conversation between two high ranking members of government of further deployment in another area. Due to its disguise, though, the civil servant had to move on, and so did not here this areas location.
When this news got back to swiss military command, they ordered the immediate activation of Operation Snow Patrol. This Involved the mobilization of the entire swiss standing army and Airforce, as well as 40,000 reservists. Unfortunately, they where to late to prevent a beachhead being taken, but due to a slow Deployment by an Ellesmerian army believing that they would have no opposition, managed to set up a defensive zone around the beachhead.
A temporary landing strip is being set up to allow for the deployment of Ellesmerian Aircraft, which currently are having to fly out of bases in Geneva.
Currently only small arms fire has been exchanged, with no casualties on either side.
Following this deployment, the Swiss government is sending out a call for aid from all countrys available to do so, preferable in the form of a navel blockade of the Ellesmerian Islands. It is also requesting that it may station stealth bombers in The Northern Union, in order to be capable of launching them Against Ellesmerian Territory's, should the need arise.
(All this follows game rules. I will not give myself any sort of advantage; I will deal with it as I would any other conflict. In addition to this, Espionage is, of course allowed. In fact, that is one of the two purposes of this thread - espionage and anti-espionage units are necessary, and because no one seemed willing to slow slip down. BTW, just because I accepted it doesn't mean the nation Switzerland will. I will only reject things if they are unrealistic.)

Re: Operation Snow Patrol
The territory my generals were order to capture are the Russian Oblasts of Arkhangelsk and Vologda.
The Harvests in Ellesmere are always poor, agriculture struggles in the harsh climate of the arctic circle. Political Pressure mounted for some form of action, and in the Parliament of Ellesmere, it was suggested, and voted in, that utilizing the warmer climes of Europe would allow us to meet domestic agricultural demands. The proposed territories offer warmer soils, and are suitable both for animal rearing and for arable use. The territory also includes disused ship building facilities (the once most active ship building area for the Russian military) and a disused spaceport, which after the conflict, restoration work will begin to make use of them. Intel had shown the territories to already be inhabited, albeit by a low number of people, politically unaligned. Thus the Ellesmerian Generals believed they would be quite easy to adopt as either Ellesmerian citizens, or to relocate them.
For this task, more military personnel were deployed than earlier endeavors due to the importance of the mission.
The Mission is being carried out by:
1 hired civilian Heavy Duty Icebreaker Trawler (as point escort for breaking the heavy sea ice around the North coast of Greenland, this has since returned to Ellesmere)
2 Type 42 Destroyers
1 RMN Kasturi Class Corvette
5000 Naval Personnel
5 CH-53 Transport Helicopters
10 MiG-29 Fulcrum Fighter jets (with the multirole as bombers, if deemed necessary)
250 Airforce Personnel
1000 Army Personnel
2 K2 Black Panther Tanks
Success is thought to be a certainty, although the unforeseen development of a Swiss bulwark shall complicate this mission (resulting in slightly more casualties and a delayed result). The mere presence of the Ellesmerian force may remove any dissident numbers of the civilian population, once the Swiss are ejected, our force is very capable of dealing with the situation within an extended time frame. Once the territory is captured, the indigenous population are likely to enjoy Ellesmerian citizen life, as we shall bring further infrastructure to the land, and political stability too.
Excluding normal military salaries etc. the endeavor shall cost 3% of current GDP, and is therefore an affordable investment into the Ellesmerian future.
The territory is expected to take 6 months to capture and a further 6 months to stabilize.
Tacticians at headquarters are currently discussing modified strategies (possibly involving reinforcements) in light of the Swiss involvement. It is thought that any naval blockade of Ellesmere by the Swiss (or its allies) will be unsuccessful due to both the power of the Ellesmerian Navy, and of the sheer geographical scale such a blockade would have to be.
