Re: Tsunami Alert
In unison, the entire nation of Gloria simply went:
'OH SHI-'
Can I have details on if it is going to hit and where. I have a plan.

Luckily, there are no shoreline cities or military bases in Brasil. Flood warnings have been issued and riverside towns have been evacuated.

Re: Tsunami Alert
The tsunami is expected to hit on December the 26th.
Currently the waves are at 5 meters tall, 1000 km of the coast of both Gloria and Brazil.

The world was reduced to a blank slate of ruins. Those cities may not exist anymore.

Re: Tsunami Alert
The wave hight has reached 30 meters tall around Gloria, and 23 meters around Brazil.
This is the largest recorded tsunami on scale.
SECONDARY TSUNAMI WARNING
The wave is heading towards the Union and Ellesmere.
Despite the distance (the wave is currently one km of the coast of Brazil; count that as it has struck both nations) it has only suffered a 13% reduction in initial power.

Yes, there are cities there, all pre-war cities. All uninhabited.

Re: Tsunami Alert
In preparation for any remains of the tsunami reaching Ellesmerian shores, the military has set up a series of wave breakers off the coast of habited areas (netting with large bouyant floats on the surface designed to reduce the energy of the wave) and off course, sandbags and concrete blocks have been placed on the actual shores around the settlements (simple, yet very effective).
The cost of setting up these precautionary defense measures has come to less than 600 million SF/EM, however, 1 billion SF/EM have been earmarked for the purpose of tsunami defence and will be used by the military shore defence personnel if they deem necessary to further strengthen the defences.
Ellesmere is confident that in the event of any remaining remnant of the tsunami reaching Ellesmerian shores, damage of buildings, infrastructure and of course the people, will be avoided.

Re: Tsunami Alert
The wave has struck redshield.
At this point, it was an incredible 18 metres tall.
Loss of life to Malachi was low, though all coastal cities are now destroyed.
The tsunami has somehow been slowed along the coast lines of gloria.
It is still oncoming, though, and the fact it has been slowed could mean even more damage, as it shows little sign of collapsing in on itself.
It is advancing at 1k an hour.

Re: Tsunami Alert
Upon hearing this news, Ellesmere has strengthened all defenses using the remaining ear-marked funds, and has placed an evacuation order on selected coastal settlements (coasts facing the relevant direction, obviously).

(Where has the tsunami hit exactly? I can't do much without knowing where it hit landfall for me.)

Re: Tsunami Alert
Along your entire coast, though in a progression, starting at the one closest to the epicenter.
The wave has begun to break up in Gloria; somehow, certain parts of it are being separated from other parts, forcing the shorter waves to collapse.

Hey Caladin, how did you calculate the tsunami height? Just wondering.

Sat down and thought up numbers...
Decided I wanted a big one (based them slightly on the boxing day one, and then made it go a lot further)

Re: Tsunami Alert
Well, it's just that a Tsunami can't get that high in that region. The shore waters would need to be forty centimeters deep for the wave to get to such a height. The maximum height for the area would 7-8 meters.

Ah...
Opps...
I really should have looked at that before I created it.
Nvm, is it just your area or Brazil + Gloria as well that that is true?

Re: Tsunami Alert
I've never been to Brasil before, but I'd assume it would be simmilar, so 7-8 meters would work given how close to the epicenter they are.

Re: Tsunami Alert
Ah well.
Neither of those two nations where majorly damaged, so it doesn't make any real difference (well, Gloria wasn't damaged at all, but nvm)
